Be Transformed. Again.
Reconnecting with the everyday wisdom of recovery
What it is Every enduring structure needs a strong foundation. The Big Book refers to the spiritual structure we are building as "an arch through which we walk to freedom." The foundation of this arch is Step One. In the Lodge Program, we revisit our foundation to make sure it was built well and is still in good shape. To know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we have a body that can't take alcohol or other drugs safely, a mind that can't leave them alone, and a spiritual condition that means on our own we can't change--leaves us the simple option of following directions.
The Lodge Program describes in the simplest of terms the path that leads to your spiritual awakening. Add the richness of the fellowship created in this environment and the healing atmosphere of the Hazelden campus, and the results are life-changing.
Who it's for The Lodge Program is an ideal opportunity for those who:
- have established a stable recovery and seek further enrichment and growth
- have become complacent or bored in recovery
- have fallen away from daily recovery work
- want to refresh spiritual practice
- have questions about spirituality
- have had a brief relapse after an established period of abstinence
How it works Designed as an open-ended stay, the Lodge Program focuses on how a group of principles, spiritual in nature, can be applied to life's problems. The daily schedule features:
- directions from the Big Book and 12 x 12
- presentations by Renewal Center staff
- staff-guided discussion groups
- morning and afternoon meditation
- free time for fellowship, self-assessment, study, and use of fitness facilities
- guidance and support from staff
Typical Lodge topics
- understanding what got our attention in active addiction
- realizing what needs our attention for lifelong recovery
- recognizing the spiritual lapse that precedes all chemical lapses
- the Big Book's Fourth Step instructions and the type of sponsorship that grew the original fellowship
- gender-specific wisdom from the Big Book
This program is not a substitute for addiction treatment and is not appropriate for anyone with a primary treatment need. The minimum age for participants is 19 years.
Participants in The Lodge program stay at the beautiful and private lakeside Dan Anderson Renewal Center on Hazelden's main campus in Center City, Minn.
